Kids say the funniest things!

I love my 4th graders so much... even the craziest of the crew who constantly have me searching for ways to keep them 100% engaged to not allow a second of downtime craziness to begin.  After eating lunch with them this week, I love them even more... their stories are epic and I hope to one day publish my own book.  ;-)  So here's an outline of some of our lunchtime conversations:

(we were talking about Halloween, and how their are some cultures and religions that do not celebrate the holiday, including two students in my class.)

"What do you do instead of trick-or-treat?"
"My family goes to church."
"Oh.  Are you Jewish?"

Student 1: "My dad has been really unlucky lately.  He lost his job, then he lost his girlfriend."
Student 2: "I wish my dad would lose his girlfriend."
Me:  "Why is that?"
Student2 : "Because I hate her."
Me:  "Hate is such a strong word.  What is it that you dislike about her?"
Student 2:  "I think she is only dating my dad because he is a race car driver."  "She always tells me to play outside, even when it's hot out!"

oh, and so many more... I need to start writing them down as they happen!
